Aritzia Super Puff Review
I recently bought my first super puff, the super puff mid, a couple months ago. I LOVE my super puff!! I wear it almost every day and it keeps me super warm and dry. Hands down, one of my favorite purchases of 2022.
Things I love about my Super Puff Mid
Very comfortable
Keeps me super warm! It’s like having two jackets in one. I don’t feel the need to layer under this jacket in order to stay warm. I could wear a t-shirt and this jacket and feel warm enough.
Actually water repellant, keeps me dry during rainy days
Hood is comfy, spacious, and stays up right
Storm cuffs with thumbholes are super comfortable (feels similar to the material of my Tna butter leggings)
Things I dislike about my Super Puff Mid
It’s only been two months, and the inner two puff segments around my elbows are deflated. I understand that could be normal wear and tear since I bend my arms so much. It just concerns me the jacket could quickly deflate over time and lose its efficient ability to keep me warm.
Not stylish. Though most puffy jackets aren’t stylish, so not a huge drawback for me.
What size is right for you?
I recommend going in store to try on different sizes. I typically wear S in Aritzia tops and XXS with their jackets/outerwear. Although the XXS super puff fit me, I preferred the fit of the XS. It’s a heavy duty jacket, and I felt like I had some breathing room with the XS. Additionally, I’d have room if I wanted to layer a thick sweater underneath.
What length should you get?
This will depend on your height, weather, and what type of winter jackets you already have in your closet. I live in Seattle where the winters are getting colder each year. It snowed twice this past year and we experienced an ice storm.
Super Puff Shorty Retail $225 - love the look of this cropped jacket. Though I just didn’t feel like it was practical enough for the winter. My upper body would be warm, but my legs would probably freeze.
Super Puff Original Retail $250 - Hit me right at my hips.
Super Puff Mid Retail $298 - Mid covers my bottom.
I noticed when I wore my old standard length puffy jacket from REI that my bum would get cold. I was debating between the Original and the Mid, and the length and the look is what won me over.
Super Puff Long Retail $350 - This is the other length that I feel like is probably the most universally flattering. This jacket goes past your knees, so it pretty much just covers up everything. I already had a long J.Crew puffy jacket, so I opted out of getting another long puffy jacket. If I didn’t already have a long puffy jacket, I would’ve bought the super puff long as my staple.
What color should you get?
Now, choosing which color could be tricky since they have so many color options now! I think it should just be based on what color will make you happy, or if you’re looking to be practical. I was super tempted to get white or an oak color, but the lighter colors would be more likely to show stains. Also, if you wear makeup, there’s a high probability your makeup is going to wear off on the jacket collars. In addition, I saw some people’s reviews stated the matte fabric showed pilling over time based on friction. I wear a backpack to work, and there are no signs of pilling.
Trying on Super Puffs - Shorty, Original, and Mid
For reference, I’m 5’7” and wearing XS.
