Wedding Bridal Hair and Makeup
Photo: Sam and Sola Lee Photography
I knew from the beginning I wanted to do my own wedding makeup. I’ve been doing my own hair and makeup for a while now for events. The last thing I wanted is to have someone do my hair and makeup, not like it, and be stressed out the morning of the wedding. If you’re not experienced doing your own H&M, then I strongly recommend practicing or hiring a H&M team and doing a couple of trials.
Some tips for wedding day makeup:
Test out hair and makeup look for engagement photos. This will allow you to see how your hair and makeup wears over the course of a day and how it is photographed.
Consider waterproof eyeliner as well as waterproof mascara or professional eyelash extensions. You will most likely shed a few tears and this will ensure makeup isn’t running down your face or your lash extensions hanging on for dear life.
If you want to go the professional lash extension route, I implore you to try it out at least 3 months in advance. This allows you to ensure you like the lash technician, the style, and that it feels comfortable. If you want to find a new technician or alter the lash style, you have time!. Also, lash extensions need to be taken off professionally. Trying to do so by yourself at home will result in pain and tears. The last thing you want to do is get your lashes done right before the wedding and be stuck with it for your big day if you dislike it.
Here are the products I used:
Makeup
Foundation: Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation 4 and 5.75*
This foundation is beautiful and flawless when applied correctly. I’ve found that the trick is to build in thin layers and blend with a beauty blender sponge. I applied two thin layers all over my face and then a third thin layer over my t-zone and cheeks.
*I used a blend of 75%-4 and 25%-5.75 to match my skin tone

Hair
Curling Iron: Conair Instant Heat Curling Iron 1”
I curled my hair in three separate sections: bottom, middle, and then top. I split my hair in half and curled all my hair away from my face. I would hold my hair in the curl for 10 seconds before letting it go.
Hairspray: L’oreal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray Extra Strong Hold Unscented
I applied a light amount of hairspray to each strand after it was curled. Then I applied a final set of hairspray when I was done with my hair flipped down. Then, I brushed my hair out with a comb.
Volumizer: Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray
Applied the texturizing spray at my roots to gain a little volume.
Bobby Pins: Conair Bobbypins
I used two bobbypins to pin the right side of my hair back and behind my ear.
